Richard Healy

Meet Richard Healy

Richard Healy is a smart man who knows to follow up on a tip. “My wife and I moved to a 55+ active adult community in 1998,” said Richard. “We lived there for almost 15 years together. My wife, Elizabeth Ann, needed the support of a memory care community, so I moved her to a secure memory care unit in 2012. I continued to live alone in our house, but by 2016 I knew I needed a change. I toured several communities, and thought I had my mind made up. I happened to meet with my attorney to go over my will, and while we were chatting, he suggested I take a tour of Harrogate. For some reason, I had it in my mind that Harrogate was very expensive.

My attorney assured me that Harrogate was an excellent value, and they offered the full continuum of care. I took his advice, booked a tour, and found that Harrogate was the most reasonably priced community among those I was researching. I’m so glad I took my attorney’s advice and gave Harrogate my full consideration. It completely changed my opinion. Harrogate has turned out to be a gem. It’s near the golf course I love and close to my doctors. But best of all, I was able to move my wife into the Harrogate Health Center, where she got the best care, and I was able to walk from my apartment to visit her every day.”

Having their parents together at Harrogate made Richard’s three children all very happy. “I moved into Harrogate in 2016, and my wife passed in 2019,” said Richard. “I live here on my own but I’m never lonely. I play golf often, but there are plenty of things that fill my day here at Harrogate. I’m on the Food Committee. We meet once a month with the Dining Services Team, to share feedback and make suggestions. They are very receptive to our input. I’m also the treasurer for the Resident Association. We support the interests of various resident clubs and committees. It’s good to have residents dedicated to keeping our community thriving.”

Harrogate’s worry-free living has always impressed Richard. “If there’s ever a problem, I know I just have to push a button and Security or the Wellness team will be at my door in minutes,” said Richard. “I never have to cook or clean here. It’s all taken care of for me. And when I’m in the mood for some great music, the Activities Director brings terrific entertainment right to our campus. My favorite is when the Pinelands Symphony Orchestra performs here. Their concerts are always wonderful.”

Richard has one piece of advice for anyone considering a move to a senior living community. “First, make sure you tour several communities,” said Richard. “Don’t just look at one. Second, ask what the monthly fee is, and find out what it covers. Third, ask what the monthly fee doesn’t cover. You might be surprised at the answer you get.

At Harrogate, the monthly fee covers all your expected expenses — food, apartment cleaning, linen service, etc. And when my wife lived in the Health Center, it was a very reasonable monthly fee that covered all her medical care. They didn’t nickel and dime me every time they administered medication to her. I appreciate the quality of care here, and I appreciate the financial transparency. Harrogate is the real deal.”

We’re glad you gave us a chance to impress you, Richard. We want the very best for all of our residents.
